Jose Ramos OF Los Angeles Dodgers (AA)

(Notes based on 7/25 and 7/28 games against AA Frisco)

Body: Long levers, good frame with lean muscle — could potentially add strength but not sure he needs to.

Bat: Good bat speed at the plate that combined with his innate strength creates significant raw power. That said, his path is quite steep and low-ball oriented—combined with his long arms yields significant swing-and-miss in the zone. Some innate looseness in hands creates limited hope for potential contact improvement, but would require a total rework (35% strikeout rate as a AA repeater). Has a late-count approach that allows him to generate walks at the AA level, but think this is more forced patience than true plate discipline, as his pitch recognition is lacking and he often chases later in counts.

Defense / Arm / Run: Big-time arm strength in the outfield that should prove a weapon. Decent runner, but reads and routes are inconsistent at the moment — believe he could play CF in a pinch but that it’s more likely his big arm and sufficient mobility allow him to profile as a solid RF.

Summary: Limited look, but believe his struggles to make contact as an RHH corner-first OF will prevent him from sticking on an ML roster. More value than a pure depth piece, as the power and solid defensive traits create real upside if hit tool becomes playable. However, hard to see him making the significant strides necessary to achieve this.

Hit: 25/30 | In-Game Power: 40/45 | Raw Power: 60/60

Defense (As RF): 45/50 | Run: 50/50 | Arm: 70/70

Overall: Role 35
