Richard De Los Santos SS 2025/26

(Brief video-only notes from February workout. Lack of data combined with limited available video severely reduces conviction and ability to assign a specific bonus value.)

LHH infielder with quality base of secondary traits. Good body with a lean, athletic build featuring long levers and meaningful strength projection. Loose, fluid mover.

Fair present bat speed that should improve with strength gains. Solid rhythm to his swing in BP, makes fairly consistent contact but path seems somewhat grooved to the bottom of the zone and lacks ability to drive the ball in the air. Further hindered by fringe barrel adjustability and somewhat wonky mechanics. In-game look (based on just 3 available swings) appears relatively similar, though has less rhythm and continue to question whether he’ll be able to square balls that don’t fit with his bat path. Present path and lack of impact bat speed limit power projection.

Relatively fluid actions on the infield, decent footwork with enough lateral range to continue to run out as a SS, though the high bar to clear to stick here at the ML level could force a move to 3B as he matures physically. Standout tool here is his arm strength, which is elite for his age and should be plus-plus at peak. Quick release and will be a weapon wherever he plays — only drawback is that he struggles to throw on the run which could contribute to move off SS. Moves well enough (6.95 with fluid strides) to try in CF where his arm would be potent.

Intrigue driven by quality foundation of defense, arm, and running ability. However, lack conviction in his ultimate ability to hit for average or power. Base of traits worthy of a low bonus flyer, with potential for greater investment if continued evaluation created greater confidence in the bat. Potential fallback as a pitcher given arm strength, body, and athleticism.
