Old-for-class HS RHP with advanced overall look. Physically mature, listed at 6’ 3” and has well-proportioned strength throughout his frame. Solid athlete with body control that is likely aided by his overall physical maturity. Relatively smooth operation with average length offline arm action into a 3/4 slot, generates big extension down the mound.
FB works at 93-97 and tops out at 99, relatively pedestrian shape that doesn’t inherently lend itself to swing and miss, but velocity and extension combination makes it jump on hitters and creates an effective offering. Below average feel for a slurvy breaking ball at 80-83, flashes avg+ sweep but no real present consistency. Kills spin on his CH at 85-86, often just a slow fastball but can flash some fade and profiles as an average third offering.
Relatively advanced control for a prep pitcher. Delivery and body feel create confidence he can achieve average command that would play in a rotation role.
See as relatively quick moving back-of-the rotation starting pitcher to eat innings. FB velocity and general starter traits portend upside for middle-of-the-rotation outcomes if secondaries can take a step forward beyond their current profile. Wake Forest commit, could improve arsenal with their quality pitching development group and come out of college after his sophomore season as an advanced, young-for-class college arm. This could make sense for him as a way of significantly increasing his draft stock.
