Tall, projectable lefty with intriguing stuff but command risk. Wide frame with significant strength projection. Fairly explosive athlete with quick arm. Delivery features some violence with head whack and rotational emphasis that creates loss of balance to glove slide. Longer, offline arm action into high 3/4 slot, very variable present release angle that will need to stabilize.
FB works at 88-92 with big raw spin rates. Inconsistent present movement profile driven by lack of refinement, but at its best features quality carry that plays well at top of zone — spinal tilt on delivery allows for combination of vertical hand position and relatively low release height. Significant velocity to come as he adds strength. SL at 80-83 is very inconsistent (the theme of his entire profile) but at its best has biting 2-plane break that creates swing and miss down and below the zone. Kills spin on his CH at 85-86, believe it is fairly new to his arsenal but flashes and has real promise to be a second quality secondary.
Limited present feel for the zone, has stuff to overpower hitters at his level but often throws noncompetitive pitches. Tough to project to average command, but think there’s an opportunity in context of stuff / control combination that he could play in a bulk role. Definitely has the athleticism to get there, but a long road ahead.
Ultra-wide range of outcomes, even considering the base prep pitching profile. Body, explosiveness, and present stuff signal tantalizing upside if everything clicks — but hesitate to believe it does. Pitch grades reflect what he flashes, but significant hurdles to reach their potential. TCU commit, depending on ask and other options available would consider buying him out of this based on upper-end outcomes.
